LARGE LETTERS O-101a
F-15
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Cap extends over headband to curl. Stars medium in size and close to milling. Date is 8 mm. and rather low. The 1 shows re-cutting along right edge and the 8 in lower loop and right edge of upper loop. A fine vertical die line joins lips and chin.
Reverse- Large Letters. Wide 50 C. is 2 1/2 mm. Arrow to A is 1/4 mm. A die break from tail feathers extends up and left along upper olive leaves, and is solidly joined to them and heavy, to outer edge of left wing, about halfway up from left tip. Another die crack is present from lower berry across leaves to UNI. Bold center dot between crossbars 4 and 5. The heavy break at left wing makes this large letter variety easy to identify. A rusted or unfinished die results in a larger portion of the surface being rough. Most noticeable are lumps inside of OF and between stem of lower leaves and the lower berry.
O-101a: The die break is heavier than the O-101, and solidly attached to the olive leaves and another die crack from lower berry across leaves to UNI.
