Medal, Plaquette, 1925, Bronze, France. RETIREMENT OF DR. ANTOINE LÉON FLORAND, By Georges-Henri Prudhomme. Plaquette AE 57mm x 71mm. Obv: Bust of Dr. Florand facing right; Rv: Dr. Florand attending a patient. Freeman 175. Near Mint. Georges-Henri Prud’homme, sculptor and medallist was born in 1873. He was a student at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts, where he studied engraving under Alphée Dubois and sculpture under Falguière. He exhibited at the salon beginning in 1894. He won an honorable mention in 1901 and a third class medal in 1904. In 1905 be became a Sociétaire des Artistes Français and a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. Prud’homme died in 1947. Purchased from Hedley Betts.
