Circulated History - Colonial and Early US coins

Owner:  colmoultrie
Last Modified:  3/12/2021
Set Description
This set contains coins of types likely or possibly found in the colonial and early US period, with a cut-off point at the beginning of the 19th century, arbitrarily set at the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. Unlike many showpiece collections, many of these coins show circulation and decades of honest wear. A few may be certified; most are not. The collection includes Spanish Reales, British coinage, and a few French, Dutch, and German states pieces, reflecting the scarcity of specie in the 17th -19th centuries.
