This coin is not a rarity by any means but is included in this set as one of my favorite modern silver bullion coins. Specifically, I wanted to own a first year of issue (1986) proof. They were struck in San Francisco during that year so the proof has the "S" mintmark on the reverse. Early business strikes (MS) did not have mint marks. I have a collection of loose silver eagles (MS) by year that I keep current however I lack the different varieties, strike locations and proofs. This is my only proof silver eagle. It is very beautiful in hand.

At one time I owned a set of Proof 1-ounce Gold Buffalos all graded PF70. I loved the set but eventually sold it. I don't see myself creating another however I do love the Gold Buffalo. With that, I decided to include an example in this custom set. Specifically, I opted to purchase a 2006 business strike which is the 1st year of issue. It is also secured in a First Strike holder representing one of the first Buffalo's ever produced. A neat attribute to have in this popular series especially as time progresses.
