Medallic Art Co. Silver California Mission Medals

Set Description
Medallic Art Co. NYC (MACO) struck a series of high relief medals commemorating the California missions. Much of the history of this series has been lost to time, but I have been able to substantiate the following .

Fourteen different medals were struck in bronze and in .999 silver. Each medal sold to the public was struck in a highly reflective proof finish.

The mintage of the proof bronze medals 2,500 and the mintage of the proof silver medals was 1,000. I have read that two of the medals had lower mintages, but I believe this to be inaccurate based on the numbering of medals within my collection. For example, I have read that the Mission La Purisima Concepcion silver medal had a mintage of only 250, but a piece from my set is stamped 515.

Set Goals
My goal is to complete the highest graded set of Silver California Mission Medals, preferably with beautiful toning, while uncovering additional information about this intriguing and beautiful series.
