Roman Emperor Portrait Coins

Set Description
A complete set of Roman emperors with the portrait of each emperor. While somewhat arbitrary, the set starts with Julius Caesar in 46 BC and ends with Anastasius I in AD 518. The total number of possible emperors is 109 although some are so rare that they are impossible to collect. Emperors are defined as those who received the title of Augustus. The set includes Julius Caesar although technically he was before Imperial Rome. However, he did actually setup a dictatorship and set the precedent for future Augusti. In addition to the emperors, I am now also including Caesars who never became Augusti, empresses, pretenders/usurpers, and at the end of the set portrait coins of important Romans who were not Augusti or Caesars. Errors were also included in this set, but have been removed and a separate set for major Roman errors has been created.

This set won the 2018 Best Custom Ancient Set and since winning that award has been upgraded significantly. Every coin is graded VG or better. The set includes 95 of the 109 possible emperors and includes two gold coins, 23 mint state coins, and 50 coins that are graded AU or higher.

Set Goals
Complete the set of emperors with portraits and continue to upgrade existing coins. Additionally, eventually adding Caesars, pretenders, and Empresses.
