Set Description:
I find the 7/8 particularly interesting since it shows the growing pains of any new design. I also shows that the best intentioned attempts to fix the controversial first try may end up with a seriously compromised solution. However, it also offers a very interesting opportunity for a collector. This is a set I began about a year ago and have been amazed how much the internet can facilitate the pursuit. The initial goal was a set in MS 64, probably without a VAM 44. As it turned out, I was able to significantly improve on that, with the 44 in 61CAC. I also have a several clashed die varieties, including a 41 B & C in 64, which VAM World recognizes but NGC does not. Many of the coins were not attributed when I bought them, so they were sent to NGC or PCGS for attribution. A number of the coins have subsequently been sent to CAC and now have the "green bean" added. but not shown.
