Set Description:
As the name on the set suggests, the collector assembling this set was not only interested in getting Morgan proofs of very high grade, but as importantly finding those high grade proofs that ranked among the earliest strikes off new proof dies, with the heaviest possible cameo contrast, and preserved as closely as possible to their original "as struck" look. The owner succeeded for the most part beyond their fondest expectations
Good timing played a major role in assembling this set, as most of the proof Morgans in the set have to be regarded as irreplaceable at this point in time. The majority of the coins in the set are either the finest known in their respective cameo condition, or tied for the finest known - a remarkable achievement, considering the difficulty factor.
While every coin in the set is appreciated by the owner, the favorites, based on the rarity and eye-appeal for their respective issues, would have to be, in chronological order: 1878-7TF, 1879, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, 1886, 1888, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1894, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1921 Chapman, and 1921 Zerbe.
The owner is ALWAYS interested in upgrading the set, but the stipulation must be the coin must not only be an upgrade on the holder, but also be an upgrade in eye-appeal. Contact can be made through Rick Tomaska of R & I Coins: rt@ricoins.com
