Set Description:

Milled 8 Reales types from from the Potosí mint in Alto Perú (Upper Peru), which would be renamed Bolivia in honor of the general and political leader Simón Bolívar. Alto Perú was part of the Viceroyalty of Peru until 1776, when it was shifted to the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata in hopes of countering the growing influence of Portugal in the region.

I started this set because I collect the 8 reales Charles III portrait design -- NGC's clever decision to allow competitive type sets is irresistible to collectors like me so I've hunted down a few specimens, outside my normal area, to fill out the set.
