3 Pence (KM47): Silver, 1.410 g, 0.500% Silver 0.0227 oz, 16.5mm, Reverse: Protea flower in center of designed bars shaped as a triangle.

The coins (all except the 5 Shilling Proof-like) were sold in a complete set of all eleven coins, nine coin set excluding the two gold coins and two gold coin sets.

The three bronze coins and six silver coins (except the 5 Shilling Proof-like) were minted in the following numbers: 1953 (5,000), 1954 (3150), 1955 (2850), 1956 (1700), 1957 (1130), 1958 (985), 1959 (900), and 1960 (3360).

The 5 Shilling Proof-like was minted in the following numbers: 1953 (8,000), 1954 (3890), 1955 (2230), 1956 (2200), 1957 (1600), 1958 (1500), 1959 (2200), and 1960 (22,000).

The two gold coins were minted in the following numbers: 1953 (4,000), 1954 (1275), 1955 (900), 1956 (508), 1957 (560), 1958 (515), 1959 (630), and 1960 (1950).
