Of the 2790 proofs minted, this is the finest example currently known. The 1875 20-cent piece is the first year of issue and represents the highest mintage of the series, although high-end examples such as this one are always hard to come by.
This superb gem proof sparkles with crimson, blue, and auburn tones around the periphery of the coin while the fully frosted design elements have a slight golden tinge. Noticeable reflectivity in the fields exists which accounts for the cameo contrast noted in the coin’s grade. A remarkable coin whose eye appeal is first rate, as attested to by the star ranking provided by NGC.

Of the 1260 proofs minted, this example is tied for the finest currently known. The 1876 20-cent piece represents the second highest mintage of the series, which is largely attributed to extra proofs being struck in conjunction with the Centennial Exhibition held in Philadelphia that same year.
This superb gem proof shimmers with emerald, lavender, turquoise, and gold tones over the entire coin, with the colors changing when held at different angles to the light. This well-struck coin has highly defined devices as attested by the high grade given by NGC. A beautiful coin with the highest technical ranking of any proof 20-cent piece graded by either NGC or PCGS.

With only 350 proofs minted, the proof-only 1877 20-cent piece has the smallest mintage of the series. This coin is the finest example currently known and the only one designated as Proof-67 Cameo with the star designation.
This superb gem proof has ample frost on the figures and devices, accounting for the cameo designation, and displays azure and sapphire toning on the obverse ceding to fiery reddish-orange. The reverse displays orange and claret toning around the edges and even more impressive cameo contrast. The overall appearance of this coin has magnificent eye appeal, with the design features reflecting a strong strike, as attested by the high grade of this coin. I’ve recently upgraded this coin to the current specimen, which represents the final #1 coin needed for my set.

Of the 600 proofs minted, this example is tied for the finest currently known. The proof-only 1878 20-cent piece has the second smallest mintage of the series.
This superb gem proof has steel-gray toning on both sides accentuated by dashes of lilac, crimson, and russet. This well-struck coin is characterized by strong detail in the design components as attested by the high grade given by NGC. A magnificent example of this proof-only issue that would be hard to beat.
