It is always an exciting time when a new coin series starts! This gives a newer collector the chance to start on a level playing field with veterans. Getting this coin in a perfect PF70UC grade was a challenge. The prices online for this coin were $250 to $300 or more. Even on eBay, the prices exceeded $200, making this coin a strain. I watched every auction, examined bid patterns, and what times the big bidders were around. After a couple of months, I saw my chance, and was able to grab this beauty for a fraction of the going rates. The thrill of the hunt and the successful outcome made all those hours worthwhile. Here is the crown jewel of my new Shield collection!

The second year of the series, and another beautiful coin! This year, the new Early Release; labels for coins other than Silver Eagles were applied, and so I had to have one. This coin was easier to get than its younger sibling, but still a challenge to find in the perfect PF70UC grade at a good price. I grabbed it late one night, and it arrived just before my birthday to replace its slightly-less perfect counterpart. Its funny how we become spoiled with high grade coins, and a PF69UC coin seems so much inferior... you couldnt tell one from the other without looking at a label. Wish I had the 1909 VDB in such a grade!
