Raised "B" on eagle's right foot is attributed to initials of the director of the Durango mint ( M. Bras-de-Fer) for the probable purpose of identifying genuine mint issues as opposed to those struck from counterfeit or stolen dies !
Dunigan and Parker: " anything better than Extremely Fine is very scarce to rare."

Only 1837 Durango graded by either service as of May, 2010. Only two Durangos of any date graded higher between 1825-1852 by NGC/PCGS combined.

This issue is only slightly scarce as a DAM per D-P. Perhaps, the easiest of the European die series to find in high grade.

Considered "very scarce" as a DAM and the normal date is "rarer than the overdates" per Dunigan and Parker.

Neither PCGS nor NGC have assigned any 1845 Durango with a numerical grade except for this 1845/31 and my 1845/35, as of July 2010.

Actually, this is the excessively rare 1845/4/4/3 with EUROPEAN (PARIS) reverse die. Only about 4 are known and this is the second finest per FoxLair communication. It is naturally lustrous borderline uncirculated. This piece has some major planchet flaws and remarkable die clashes with leaves of the wreath on the eagle side.

Resplandores says this is a scarce date but, when found, is often in high grade as a result of a discovered hoard. However, many of the coins in the hoard were damaged by improper cleaning.

This appears to be the only 1846/1 overdate certified with a numerical grade. It certainly appears to be a weakly struck reverse but otherwise an uncirculated coin.

This is actually the overassayer CP/JMR. Neither service has graded another example of the overassayer and only one other of the normal CP (an XF-45).
