5. British troops open fire on demonstrators in Amritsar, India, killing 350.
6. Johnny Loftus aboard Sir Barton wins 45th Kentucky Derby and goes on to capture the Triple Crown.
7. US Congress passes the Women's Suffrage Bill, the 19th Amendment.
8. Volstead Act passed by US Congress, establishing prohibition, despite President Wilson's veto.
