Owner's Description

The 2002 panda has the same design as the 2001. It is reported that this year the panda design was to become fixed much like America's liberty eagle design. After public outcry, the mint decided that fixing the same design year to year was a bad idea and abandoned this ill fated plan. The distribution pattern of the 2002 coins is considered to be unique. Many 2002 coins ended up outside of the usual distribution patterns which has decreased the surviving population numbers for the year.
