NGC Debuts Interactive Registry Display at ANA World’s Fair of Money

Posted on 8/2/2005

At the ANA World’s Fair of Money in San Francisco, NGC unveiled a new installation devoted to the NGC Registry. The many recent additions to the Collectors’ Society prompted the creation of this interactive display center. At the booth, show attendees received live demonstrations of the Collectors’ Society website and the NGC Registry. A multimedia presentation walked collectors through the Registry’s various components.

This exhibition coincided with the launch of Signature Sets as the newest component of the NGC Registry. These are sets defined by collectors according to their own collecting and exhibiting interests. Sets are loosely categorized according to a very general theme, but can include any NGC or PCGS certified coins. Collectors simply specify the number of coins (or tokens, or medals) they wish to include, and any coin of their choosing can be entered.

Signature Sets allow collectors to register and display their sets of toned coins, patterns, tokens, world coins, mint errors, and literally endless possibilities. Signature Sets are not scored, but in addition to awards for Best Presented Sets, the Most Creative Sets will be similarly recognized.

In addition to the interactive Registry installation, there were two numismatic displays. The first consisted of the incomparable BRS Legacy Collection of Proof Barber Dimes, including the 1894-S classic San Francisco Mint rarity. Also on display was the Pattern 2000-P Sacagawea Dollar. A Cheerios box from 2000 describing the promotion was included, along with an example still in the original Cheerios holder and an NGC MS-67 certified example.
