NGC to Display Silver Commemoratives at FUN

At the Florida United Numismatist (FUN) convention, held in Tampa, Florida from January 6 - 9, 2011, NGC will display a group of important US commemorative coins. The display, entitled Vividly Toned Silver Commemoratives, gathers together spectacularly toned coins from several collections of United States commemoratives, including the Bingham and Schultz collections, as well as other private collections.

Many advanced collectors of silver commemoratives place strong emphasis on the visual appeal of the coins they purchase. Most prized in today's marketplace are coins with vibrantly colored, original patina. Commemorative coins are beautiful objects in their own right, as many were designed by prominent sculptors whose designs were selected in contests. A patina can greatly enhance this canvas by adding innumerable shades of blue, gold, green, red and other colors.

Among the coins included in NGC’s exhibit will be a number of coins that have never been displayed publicly before. In addition to their superb eye appeal, pieces selected for display have strong technical merit and many are tied for finest known.
