CGC's Fan Expo Canada Review

Posted: 9/11/2008 by Josh Hanin

August 22nd through the 24th marked CGC's return to Toronto, Ontario for Canada's Fan Expo. After an absence of several years many fans of our services and several new comers to the idea of certification were delighted to meet us. The Toronto Fan Expo took place at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre inside the South Building many stories below the ground level of the street; a very interesting architectural design considering it is just next door to the CN Tower, the second tallest building in the world. Being underground did not stop a man who went to even greater heights, astronaut Buzz Aldrin (the second man to walk on the moon) from attending the show. He was among many other high profile media guests to make an appearance that weekend, one of the most popular being Henry Winkler, 'Mr. Fonzarelli' himself. Many fans took advantage of 'the Fonz' being at the show and had their Gold Key 'Happy Days' comics signed and witnessed for our signature series service. We also received many signed Superman books because Michael Rosenbaum & Laura Vandervoort (Lex Luthor & Supergirl on Smallville) also attended the show.

Our many customers and several new users took advantage of the fact that so many talented artists and writers were present and brought their signed/witnessed books to be made eligible for CGC's prestigious Signature Series designation. Signature Series was king at Fan Expo, almost every book we received was a Signature Series submission. Alex Ross, Brian Bolland, Steve McNiven, Mark Bagley, Georges Jeanty, Peter David & Gabriele Del'Otto were just a few of the talented names that attended this awesome show.
