Bronze and .900 fine silver medals were struck in Philadelphia mint with the “P” mintmark to commemorate the U.S Weather Service Centennial in 1970. 2,000 bronze and 150 silver National Commemorative Medals were issued and distributed by the American Meteorology Society. Some of the bronze medals were encased in Lucite.
