Lyman Allen #3.03 (KM #179) - Mintage: 6,500,000
The only denomination struck in 1939 at the Manila mint was the one centavo, and this coin is very typical. The vast majority of Commonwealth reverse Centavos minted in Manila are very weakly struck. Surprisingly though, red high mint state pieces like this one are relatively common. In spite of the weak strike, this coin has good luster with appealing toning, but a few too many scuff marks to achieve a higher grade.
As an interesting note, this is the coin that NGC now uses as their plate coin in NGC Coin Explorer.
