Issued as a private token and advertising token for Henry Young (died 1804). Henry was a goldsmith, jeweler and coin dealer, first at 9 Fleet Street (1768-77) and then 18 Ludgate Street (1779-96). Later at 10 Tavistock Court, Covent Gardens (1797-98) and finally 16 Ludgate Street (1798-1804). He is the father of Matthew Young, also a coin dealer, who issued his own tokens.
A die break occurred at the date, examples can be found with and without the date – both are common.
