St. James Palace is the most senior royal palace in the United Kingdom. Built at the end of St. James' Street, Pall Mall in the 1630's by order of Henry VII on the site of a leper hospital, the palace was partially destroyed by fire in 1809 and parts rebuilt. It is still used as the residence of members of the royal family.
One of Peter Kempson's series of London building tokens made for collectors. The series consists of 39 tokens portraying 25 buildings, 3 bridges, and 8 ancient gates of London.
