Owner Comments:

The Maine State Quarter was released on June 2, 2003 as the twenty-third coin in the State Quarter Program. Maine’s original Statehood date was March 15, 1820.

The reverse features the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and a schooner at sea with a couple of seagulls drifting about the ship. An Eastern White Pine, the state tree, is also featured. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse marks the entrance to Muscongus Bay and Johns Bay and is one of Maine’s most popular attractions. The schooner is fashioned to represent “Victory Chimes” the last remaining Chesapeake Ram schooner and a national historic landmark residing at Rockland, Maine.

I took this picture of the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse on September 8, 2023
