Owner Comments:

The Massachusetts Silver guarter was the sixth released in the 50 State Quarter Program and the first released on January 3, 2000. The obverse side depicting President George Washinton was modified to include some of the wording previously used on the reverse. The modification was autorized by special legislation, and carried out by Mint sculptor-engraver William Cousins, whose initials were added to the truncation of Washinton's neck adjacent to those of the original designer, John Flanagan. The Governor approved theme of the coin, The Minuteman. Which features the likeness of the celebrated Minuteman of the American Revolution against an outline of the state. The Bay State. Reverse Designer: Thomas D. Rodgers Mintage (965,421) in Silver Proof Sets only
