||DIMES - BARBER LIBERTY HEAD, PROOF
||NGC PF 64 CA
Starting in 1892 Charles Barber introduced his new designs for the dime, quarter and half dollar. The new coins replaced the venerable Liberty Seated design, which had been introduced in 1836 on the Gobrecht Dollar. Although Barber’s obverse design for the dime was new, interestingly the reverse the dime did not change from the previous type.
The coin shown above is a very high end Proof 64, Cameo example. It has bright white fields and finely frosted devices which gives the coin a very attractive appearance.
