Owner Comments:

1861 50C PR66 Cameo NGC. Original powder-blue, magenta, and peach-gold toning enriches the borders, while the mildly frosty devices are nearly untoned, providing a nice cameo contrast. Dazzling mirrors and an above average strike provide exceptional eye appeal. In his 1988 Encyclopedia, Breen noted, "Of 1,000 proofs struck, fewer than 400 were sold, the rest melted." Only 7 cameos graded. Population: 3 in 66 cameo, none finer 8/08.
