Betts-519 Copper. William Pitt ½P. Obverse is a bust of William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham a British statesman who achieved his greatest fame as Secretary of State during the Seven Years' War and who was later Prime Minister of Great Britain. He was also known as The Great Commoner. The major American city of Pittsburgh was named for him. He adimently opposed the Stamp act and the obverse speak to this as well as revese show this.
