Owner Comments:

This is a pristine, virtually black-and-white beauty with the barest hint of gold color near the peripheries. The pronounced contrast and liquid mirrors in the fields clearly merit the Ultra Cameo designation assigned by NGC. A couple of minuscule nicks on Liberty's neck appear to be the only grade-limiting factor, and might serve together in the future as a pedigree marker. Neither of the major grading services has assigned a PR69 grade to any 1898 half dollar to date, and only five such coins have received a grade of PR68 with the Ultra/Deep Cameo designation (4/07). This beauty is undoubtedly destined for a top-of-the-line set of proof Barber halves.
