Owner Comments:
On March 3, 1916, it was announced by the mint that Adolph A. Weinman had won the design contest for the new half dollar and dime. Weinman had used a Mrs. Wallace Stevens as his model for the "winged cap" design. The public didn't take long to rename it "Mercury" after the Greek mythological figure Hermes. What a beautiful design. This particular coin is our first purchase of '07 and was found at the Houston Money Show. The colors are stunning and with a grade like MS68 there's not too many to go around.
