Owner Comments:

AU53, CAC. Breen 6501, McCloskey 3B, Script 8, 34 far apart, 4 under curl, no tongue in the eagle and no berry in the olive branch. Very rare die guide lines usually seen on proof coins are seen between the D-S and faintly left of the U and left of the 5. Breen's Monograph of EARLY UNITED STATES HALF EAGLES, pg 69, II-1 says, "Proofs generally show guide lines (arcs of a circle in line with the bases of letters) left and right of the 5D., left of the U, between D-S, Between F-A", "Some proofs evidently went into circulation as there are "AU" pieces showing earmarks of proof status."
