Owner Comments:

In 2014, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Series II celebrates the Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar horse include 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2014. Believed to be the most free spirited of all signs, those born under its influence are said to be friendly and open-minded.

Proof Quality 99.99% Pure Gold

Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 99.99% pure gold in proof quality.

Stunning Horse Reverse Design

The reverse of each coin depicts a horse galloping amid a stylised scene of mountains and clouds. The Chinese character for ‘horse’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Horse’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as Australian legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, each coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date, the monetary denomination and the weight and fineness of each coin.

Elegant Packaging and Numbered Certificates

Each coin and three-coin set is housed in an oval-shaped, glossy black and timber-inspired display case and illustrated lunar-themed shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Available in 1oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and a Three-Coin Set

The 2014 gold releases are available as individual 1oz, 1/4oz and 1/10oz coins, or in a stunning three-coin set comprising all three issues.

Extremely Limited Mintages

No more than 3,000 individual 1oz coins and 5,000 individual 1/4oz and 1/10oz coins will be released from their maximum mintages of 6,000 and 8,000 respectively. The remaining 3,000 coins in each size are compiled to create the Three-Coin Set.
