||QUARTER DOLLARS - SEATED LIBERTY, NO MOTTO
||NGC MS 67
Another glamour coin. A common date chosen for its beauty. There are nine coins graded MS-67 (3 NGC, 6 PCGS) and while this coin may not outrank them (I'm not sure it would cross) it has to be top of the heap for eye appeal. Nicely toned with light colorization and irrepressible luster. High magnification reveals just a few light ticks above the eagle's head on the reverse that are hard to see with the naked eye. Difficult to match up with Briggs. Possibly a 3-B. While the reverse shows no die cracks the eagle's eye is convex and its claws open (Type 2). Consistent with Obverse-3 the date does slope up left to right, but there appears to be evidence of re-cutting on the first two digits (1 8) not mentioned in Briggs. Bought from Bill Nagle September 2001. Gorgeous coin in case I forgot to say it.
