In a series filled with rarities, the 1865 date ranks near the top. Only 1,140 business strikes were made. In the past 14 years I have been able to identify only 33 different coins is all grades offered for sale. (Just over 2 coins per year) If just a handful of new collectors started to assemble the $3 series, you would see the price of this date, along with several other dates, skyrocket.
