Owner Comments:

Nice Choice MS 64 1862 Indian Princess Head (Type 3) Gold Dollar in an old NGC Holder. Harder to find in Choice or better condition than one might think considering the total mintage. During the Civil War in 1862 the Philadelphia Mint produced 1,361,355 Gold Dollars. The remaining Mint State coins saved are mainly in Uncirculated (MS 62) condition or lower. Designer James B. Longacre; weight 1.672 grams; composition .900 Gold and .100 Copper (net weight .04837 oz. pure Gold). NGC Total 2625 / Same 304 / Better 181
