This is a superb Mercury dime, and recognized as such by NGC with the *STAR* designation. The top obverse is painted in splendid reds, oranges, yellows, and greens. A few die polishing lines can be seen in the fields at both left and right of the bust. The reverse is crescent toned on the right, with tones similar to the obverse. While the coin did not receive the full bands (FB) designation, the bands are very near fully split. As of the time I added this coin to my set, NGC has graded a total of 120,468 mercury dimes, and has awarded the *STAR* to only 621 of these coins (0.51%). Needless to say, this is a type coin I was very happy to acquire. I think the eye appeal of this piece more than makes up for the lack of a "FB" designation.
