||DIMES - BARBER LIBERTY HEAD, PROOF
||10C 1894 S
||NGC PF 66
This is the most famed and desirable of all San Francisco Mint coins. A scant 24 examples were struck as presentation specimens for several bankers visiting the San Francisco Mint. This mintage of 24 was listed in the Mint’s Annual Report and almost immediately, the 1894-S Dime was recognized as a true rarity. Today, the existence of just nine is confirmed, and the 1894-S Barber Dime is solidly among the marquee rarities in American numismatics. The Simpson specimen is richly toned in blues and greens, and graded NGC PF66, making it tied for the finest known.
