Although some collectors might lump the 1850-P gold dollar in with the other common date Philadelphia mint gold dollars, the coin is scarce in MS-64 and better. Lower grade examples are available, but are not seen as frequently as the really common dates like 1852 and most especially 1853.
The coin above is a very nice example that easily makes the MS-62 grade. It has attractive luster on both sides and there are no significant scratches or marks. As such it is my belief that this coin might have qualified as an MS-63 on what some collectors might call "a better day."
