Owner Comments:

O.101 R3. Newman. "1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar, MS64. Popular Broken 3 Guide Book Variety, O-101. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. This Guide Book staple exhibits vibrant mint luster radiating from nicely preserved surfaces. The brilliant silver centers have a beguiling antique cameo appearance, complimented by vivid rings of violet and golden-brown toning at the rims. Aside from the eagle's claws and nearby stem the design elements are crisply struck. The "Broken 3" of 1823 is found on a multitude of want lists, notably Registry Set collectors seeking the rarely encountered choice AU and Uncirculated specimens. The Newman coin is just what the doctor ordered. We expect fierce competition. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a.
