Owner Comments:

1849 to early 1853 silver coins have an extremely low survival rate. Their silver content exceeded their face value and most were melted. On Feb 21, 1853 Congress reduced the silver content by approximately 7% to prevent further melting. If all the 1849 quarters in all grades slabbed by both PCGS and NGC were gathered together, you would not have enough coins to fill four rolls.
