Owner Comments:

1982 was a pivotal year for the Lincoln cent as the composition of the coin changed from bronze to copper-plated zinc. The change to copper-plated zinc marked the end of an era for the traditional copper penny. The change to the zinc-based cent occurred late in the year in 1982 so both bronze and zinc versions were produced. In addition to metallic composition modifications, both the Philadelphia and Denver mints produce large and small date varieties in 1982 making a total of 7 varieties for 1982.
