Owner Comments:
The San Francisco Mint produced about 35 million Roosevelt dimes in 1947 and mint state examples survive in the hundreds of thousands. The date is notable for having several different RPM variety listings.
The 1947-S here is blast white, 100% spot-free and has great luster eye-appeal. It has a sharp strike on both sides with no significant spread in any of the lettering. There are, however, some light hairlines and stress marks on both sides that are commonly found on silver Roosevelt dimes.
Most of the torch lines are clear and defined, but the lower band line is barely visible and a significant contact mark interrupts at least one of the vertical lines below it. However, this is the only significant contact mark on the coin. And overall, this is a very nice bright white dime for the collection.
