This is the last of the series with the CAROLUS III legend as the monarch died in December of 1788 and the mint switched to the CAROLUS IV legend for the remainder of 1789. This variation is the more rare of the two 1789 versions. From Daniel Frank Sedwick's Treasure Auction 12, October 2012, Lot# 1275. KM-55; CT-998. 26.8 grams. Bold AXF with toning around details, slightly off-center strike.
