This coin was in an NNC VF25 holder when I saw it on Ebay. I knew it was an XF 40 instantly. Cracked it out and sent it in 'raw' to NGC. A lovely 'original patina' charcoal grey color. At the same time, there was a nice---but slightly washed PCGS VF30 coin also being auctioned by another seller---I definitely got the better coin at virtually the exact same price. It sure pays to be able to grade correctly.
