Owner Comments:
In 1860 the mint modified the half dime and dime designs. The new coins had the legend, "United States of America," on the obverse instead of the reverse, and the wreath on the reverse with filled out to include images of American agricultural products. The denomination, "Half Dime," continued to be on the reverse.
I usually sell pieces that I have upgraded or replaced with Proof coins, but I decided to keep this piece because of its Civil War related date. The coin has original surfaces, and it quite nice for the MS-64 grade. There is some weakness in the strike at the top of the wreath.
