Owner Comments:

VAM-5 (Doubled 1)Tied for finest graded by NGC with three others. There are also 6 at this level in the PCGS population report, include the Hoffnagle coin (#4186814), which is a VAM-2.This is a beautiful, clean cameo. The reverse die was overpolished at the mint, resulting in a separation of the lower leaves in the second bunch on the left side of the wreath. The reverse also displays a faint legend die crack extending from the right side of the D, through the wing tip, above the S and terminating at the upper left point of the T. That is followed by a break in luster at the rim, extending about two letters in breadth. The arrows look doubled. But it is an illusion created by the mirrored field, typically evident in trying to attribute prooflike Morgans. I am sure there are plenty of collectors who have prooflikes of any dates which have been mistakenly, due to the optical effects of mirror fields, identified as having mint-produced doubling.Prooflike Condition Census (date): 1 x 67DM(P), 2 x 67PL(P), 2 x 67PL(N), 6 x 66DM(P), 4 x 66DM(N), 16 x 66PL(P), 11 x 66PL(N)DMPL Condition Census (date): 1 x 67DM(P), 6 x 66DM(P), 4 x 66DM(N)
