Owner Comments:

A new decade began for the Kennedy Half Dollar. Although the coins were virtually absent within everyday commerce, the United States Mint continued to produce them for the limited segments where they saw use. The 1990 Kennedy Half Dollars were also struck for inclusion within government issued mint sets and proof sets for collectors.

For circulation strike versions, the mintages reached 22,278,000 at Philadelphia and 20,096,242 at Denver. The highest grades available are MS67, with just a few pieces graded MS68 for the Philadelphia strike. The proof version struck at San Francisco saw a mintage of 3,299,559. The incidence of Proof-70 graded examples increased compared to the prior year as overall quality and consistency continued to improve for proof coins.
