Owner Comments:

NGC, AU53, Upright 5, $1 gold coin, Type III. This coin is a nice AU specimen of the Type III gold dollar coin to complete the type set for this series. NGC has only graded about 150 coins higher than this 1856 gold dollar in all MS grades. This coin was purchased in Auction. There are two design versions for this year and MM. This coin with the straight 5 in the date is much scarcer than the leaning 5 coin design.
