Owner Comments:

Advanced commemorative coin long set collectors of the144 piece complete sets, as well as those who have pursued higher grade coins above the MS65 level within the Washington Carver type subsets come to the understanding that the four Denver dates; 51D, 52D, 53 D and 54D are very tough to locate with nice eye appeal. Many coins are ugly being bag marked or possessing little to muted luster and most have some to serious planchet flaws on Washington Carver's jaw line from the coins being improperly manufactured originally by the U.S. mint. The very low population numbers in MS 66 and higher from the two major grading services along with the present but growing CAC certifications support this fact. Try buying a couple today-good luck!

This particular coin is maybe more of the exception than the general rule noted above. It booms with bright, scintillating, and very lustrous surfaces. It is also clean overall with just a few minor marks and at the top of this date class. A light touch of gold shimmers on the rims adding to the overall D mint knockout look on this coin. CAC certified, superior and top end 53D!

Provenance: W.P.E.

Population: PCGS: 42 in MS66 (includes 1 in 66+), 0 higher, NGC: 12 in 66, 1 in 67. CAC: 8, 0 higher. (10-12)
