Owner Comments:

Chickasaw NRA is found in south-central Oklahoma. It was initially established as Sulphur Springs Reservation in 1902. Later, in 1906, it was renamed and re-designated Platt National Park. In 1976, it was combined with the Arbuckle Recreation Area and renamed and re-designated a National Recreation Area. It was named “Chickasaw” to honor the Chickasaw Nation who were “relocated” there in the 1830’s and later made the land available for a park.
The Chickasaw National Recreation Area quarter is the fifth released in 2011 and the 10th overall in the program. It features the Lincoln Bridge, built of limestone and dedicated in 1909 to celebrate the centennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The detail is wonderful.
