Owner Comments:
The reverse of the Arizona quarter caused some controversy when it was proposed for the state quarter. The reason was that the design implies that the Grand Canyon and the iconic saguaro cactus are in close proximity to one another. In truth the cactus grows to the south of the canyon in the Sonoran Desert. Nevertheless the Grand Canyon – saguaro cactus design outpolled its nearest competitor in the on-line voting.
